Automatic Professional Indemnity Insurance
Because we know that workers in Social, Community, and Disability Services are particularly vulnerable to professional negligence claims, ASU members in the sector are automatically covered by Professional Indemnity Insurance. Each day you work to improve the lives of your clients, and it’s only fair that you’re protected while carrying out that work.
Our policy provides a limit of indemnity up to $5,000,000 for any one claim and $15,000,000 in the aggregate and cover for legal costs in relation to inquiries.
We know some members also work under an ABN, and this policy covers you as well (as long as you are earning under $200,000 a year).

Journey Insurance
Workers in Social, Community, and Disability Services are often required to work shifts well in excess of 24 hours, and driving home after these long shifts can be incredibly dangerous. That’s why our Journey Insurance policy provides income protection if you need time off work as a result of an accident travelling to or from work.
Members are covered after a two week excess for 100% of salary (capped at $200 per week) for 104 weeks.
