Save NT Portable Long Service Leave

The Country Liberal Party (CLP) has announced its decision to scrap Portable Long Service Leave (PLSL) for social, community, and disability sector workers.

Australian Services Union members need to stand together and make their voices heard to the Northern Territory government to stop the CLP from taking away hard-earned workers' rights.

What We Know

Without PLSL, retention will become an even greater challenge, directly impacting the quality of care and support services in the Territory. Without PLSL, social, community, and disability sector workers are unable to take their Long Service Leave with them when moving between employers. Moving between employers is common within the sector due to government funding cuts.

What Can You Do to Help?

Here are three things you can do right now:

  1. Sign the petition and share it with your workmates.
  2. Email the Chief Minister at [email protected] and Education Minister at [email protected].

This move will exacerbate workforce retention issues and send the Northern Territory backwards compared to other states. We are calling on the CLP Government to reverse this decision and instead work with the sector to address critical workforce shortages and ensure fair conditions for all workers.
