Sunshine Coast Council Refuses to Improve Wage Offer

The Services Union (TSU) attended the latest Certified Agreement bargaining meeting with Sunshine Coast Council (SCC) on Wednesday 27 May 2026 to continue negotiations for your new Agreement.

Prior to this meeting, TSU surveyed members and received an overwhelming response that employees do not support accepting a wage increase below 5%.

During negotiations, SCC made it clear that they are unwilling to improve their current wages offer, which remains at:

  • 4.7% in 2026
  • 4.0% in 2027

While Council has made some movement on several non-wage claims, these changes remain limited. Current proposed improvements include:
  • A new Level 2.5 pay increment ($77,863 annual salary), effective from July 2027
  • Paid Partner Leave increased to 4 weeks
  • Domestic and Family Violence Leave increased to 20 days
  • Employees currently undergoing fertility treatment able to access up to 7 days Personal Leave

TSU acknowledges these improvements; however, Council’s wages position remains unchanged.

We now need direction from YOU - our members.

Given SCC’s refusal to improve their wages offer, we want to understand:
  • what wage outcome you believe is fair and acceptable; and
  • what action you are prepared to take to achieve it.

Please take a few minutes to complete the survey HERE.

Thank you for your continued engagement and participation throughout bargaining.

If you know a colleague who is not yet a TSU member, encourage them to join today.
