Sunshine Coast Council Restructure

The Services Union (TSU) attended a briefing on 2 June 2026 with Sunshine Coast Council CEO, John Baker, regarding a significant organisational restructure currently being proposed by Council.

Many of you may have already received information about this proposal through the CEO live presentation held on 1 June 2026.

Council has advised that 128 positions (identified as Stream A) are proposed to be made redundant. Of these positions, approximately 52 are currently vacant.

Employees whose positions are directly affected will participate in a consultation process on 3 and 4 June 2026. These meetings will be conducted with your Leader and a Human Resources representative.

Council has advised that a final decision regarding the proposed restructure is expected to be confirmed on 29 June 2026.

TSU understands that this announcement may cause uncertainty and concern for many employees. We encourage any member who requires advice, support, or representation during this process to contact TSU Services Connect on (07) 3844 5300, [email protected], or speak with one of your Workplace Delegates.

Council's Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is also available to employees and their immediate family members, providing confidential support services including counselling, financial advice, and career transition support during this period.

If you would like a support person present during your consultation meeting, please reach out as soon as possible.
