How does the ASU respond when I call or email?
When you call the ASU on 1300 855 570 or email on
[email protected], you will be immediately directed to our Member Engagement Team. This team is the front-face of all union office inquiries.
Our Member Engagement Officers are trained in membership tasks. So, if you need to make any amendments to your file or join the union, they can help you immediately.
If you have an issue at work and need help, our Member Engagement Officers have been trained in industrial issues and have been provided with a comprehensive assistance guide developed by our most experienced staff. They can answer simple questions, provide you with resources, or give you information about what steps you need to take to progress your issue.
If you need more in-depth assistance, they’ll book you an appointment with someone from our Industrial Support Team at a time that’s convenient for you. The staff member assigned to your case will call you at your allotted time, and work with you to progress your issue. They can do things like help draft communications to your employer, review letters or your contract and pay slips, and raise disputes in the workplace.
If your issue is an emergency and you can’t wait for an appointment, for example, there is an imminent risk to your health and safety in the workplace or termination of employment is imminent, our Member Engagement Officers will transfer you directly to our Industrial Support Team for immediate advice.
