Brisbane City Council – Enterprise Bargaining ready to go!

The Services Union is By Your Side when it comes to negotiating pay rises and conditions at Brisbane City Council.

The negotiators for the next Brisbane City Council Enterprise Bargain met this morning to map out how the negotiations will proceed. In a change from previous years the Council negotiation team included the Chief Executive Officer, Kerrie Freeman.

Unions will be submitting their claims for the new Agreement over the next two weeks with the next negotiation meeting fixed for 26 May 2026.

The CEO outlined the Council’s position for the negotiations. The Council acknowledged:

  • That the cost of living is the real issue confronting the negotiating parties and wants to ensure that employees get money in their pockets as soon as possible.
  • That the Agreement is generally working well and does not require a major overhaul.
  • That the outcome of the negotiations needs to be equitable and (most importantly).
  • There is no plan to cut staff.

The CEO also informed the meeting that the Council would be looking to set out what its view on pay increases is soon and provide the rationale as to how the figure is arrived at.

All up, it was a very positive start to the discussions.

The Services Union will be finalising our claims in the next couple of days with member endorsement meetings. If you are interested in how things work in your workplace, the enterprise bargaining process is the main event.

Don’t miss it!
